Rachel recently met with the Football Foundation to discuss how their funding has transformed grassroot facilities in Redditch and the Villages.
On Friday (February 2nd), the local MP joined Chief Executive, Robert Sullivan, and the Leader of Wychavon District Council, Cllr Christopher Day, at Inkberrow Football Club which has received investment from the Football Foundation.
Since 2000, the Football Foundation, the Premier League, The FA and the Government’s charity, has invested £1.3 million in the constituency through 88 grants, helping to support 125 individual teams.
Rachel saw for herself how the Football Foundation’s investment in Inkberrow, totalling £630,000, is boosting participation in sport and is helping boys, girls, men and women to stay active.
Rachel said:
“It’s always great to see first-hand how investment benefits communities and improves people’s lives.
“And that’s certainly the case in Inkberrow with the investment in grassroots facilities at the football club thanks to funding from the Football Foundation and Wychavon District Council.
“Their facilities are used by boys and girls, men and women of all ages and from all backgrounds, truly making sport accessible for all.
“I look forward to working with the Football Foundation and our local councils to continue improving access to grassroots sport facilities for people across our constituency.”
