Rachel has welcomed news that the Government’s extended Household Support Fund allocations are now available to local councils.
Worcestershire County Council will receive £7,898,278 in this latest round of funding to help families that need support in the face of rising costs.
This funding takes the total level of support provided to Worcestershire residents to £19,745,696, demonstrating the Government’s commitment to support the most vulnerable in times of financial hardship.
The Household Support Fund is a discretionary fund provided to local councils enabling them to provide support to vulnerable families struggling to cover essential costs who may not be eligible for other Government support schemes.
The Government is also delivering further support on top of the £1 billion of funding for the Household Support Fund including means-tested £900 Cost of Living Payments, a £150 payment for disabled people, and £300 for pensioner households. The Government’s Energy Price Guarantee is also protecting people from rising energy costs this year and will remain in place until the end of March 2024.
Rachel said:
“I’ve seen first-hand how this funding has been supporting many of my constituents thanks to the work of Act on Energy who have attended my cost of living drop-in events.
“The support from the Household Support Fund has clearly been needed, so I’m pleased to see the Government is providing Worcestershire with a further £7.8 million.
“As costs remain high for families, I will continue to do everything I can to support my constituents at this difficult time.”
