“I’m doing all I can to support my constituents as the cost of living continues to increase and as anxiety grows ahead of the increase in the energy price cap.
“There is already a £37 billion package of support in place. Most of this support will be paid directly to your account and so you don’t need to worry about applying for anything.
“However, there is some support, such as the Household Support Fund and Pension Credit, where it must be applied for and I’m supporting a number of constituents in doing so. Pension Credit gives you extra money to help with your living costs if you’re over State Pension age and on a low income.
“There are many people in Redditch who are able to claim Pension Credit but aren’t doing so as Citizens Advice explained to me last week. If this is you then please do get in touch with me by calling 01527 591334 or by sending an email to rachel.maclean.mp@parliament and I will do all I can to help.
“It’s also clear to me that more support is going to be needed on top of the £37 billion which is already helping my constituents.
“The current Prime Minister and his Government are, as we speak, already working on options for his successor. The idea that work isn’t already on going to support people further is far from the truth.
“Both candidates vying to become our next Prime Minister have both stated they will go further to help my constituents.
“But I believe the next package of support must also include tax cuts. We can at the same time support people in the way we’re doing so right now, whilst also reducing the tax burden. My hard-working constituents should keep more of their money. It’s not the Government’s money – it’s yours.
“I hope I can reassure you that I understand the anxiety and worry you’re facing right now. I am always here to help so please do get in touch with me and I will do all that I can to support you and your family at this difficult time. We will get through this together.”
