Rachel has met with local health bosses to discuss the timeframe for the Garden Suite’s return to the Alexandra Hospital.
Earlier this month, and following a hard-fought campaign led by Rachel, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust confirmed the chemotherapy service will be returned to the Alex following its temporary relocation to Kidderminster Hospital during the pandemic.
The Trust had been actively considering the option of making the temporary relocation permanent.
Yesterday (February 23rd), Rachel once again met with the Trust’s Chief Executive, Matthew Hopkins, to discuss the return of the Garden Suite to the Alex.
Rachel said: “Following confirmation the Garden Suite will rightly be returned to the Alex, I’m continuing to hold the Trust to account to ensure the service is now returned as soon as possible.
“I’m told work is already underway on finding the best location for the Garden Suite at the Alex. I understand the Garden Suite will need its own entrance, which is why the Trust is examining where it is best to locate it at our hospital. I hope to provide you with a further update once this location appraisal has been completed next month.
“The Alex has and always will be my top priority and it has a bright future ahead of it.”
