Rachel recently visited the newest additions to the Alexandra Hospital.
Joined by Councillor Matt Dormer, Leader of Redditch Borough Council, they were taken on a tour of the new Breast Imaging Unit and the mobile CT scanner.
The Breast Imaging Unit, a new purpose-built extension, which replaces the previous mobile breast imaging unit, incorporates two dedicated rooms for breast mammography and ultrasound scans and is located close to the breast surgery clinics to allow a seamless and accessible pathway for patients.
During their visit, Rachel and Cllr Dormer also got to see the new mobile CT scanner which is operating 7 days a week in order to reduce waiting lists.
The mobile CT scanner, as well as the mobile MRI scanner at the Alex, will provide approximately 4,300 patients with faster access to diagnostic tests and earlier diagnoses as part of the Government’s £350 million investment across the country.
Rachel said:
“I warmly welcome these new facilities which will help patients get seen quicker and ultimately help save lives by catching issues faster.
“I want my constituents to see tangible improvements coming to our hospital as a result of support from the Government.
“This hospital is an absolutely vital part of the NHS and the Acute Trust’s plans for long-term healthcare in Redditch. We are already seeing significant investment and there is much more in the pipeline.
“I will keep on pushing the Trust to deliver on their promises and I will never stop fighting for the Alex.”
