A barrier to ensure the safe collection of children at Holyoakes First School has been installed as a temporary measure.
Parking at the school has been an issue for some time and a number of safety concerns have been raised by both parents and teachers. Following a recent meeting between the school, local ward and county councillors, the Leader of Redditch Borough Council, Rachel Maclean MP and Persimmon Homes, the decision was taken to install the barrier to prevent vehicular traffic from accessing the area immediately outside of the school.
The barrier, which will be in operation from Monday to Friday between 2.30pm and 3.05pm, will provide an interim solution until the new spine road opens.
Rachel said:
“By working together and focussing on what’s possible, a practical and workable solution has been found which will ensure children can be safely dropped off and collected from school. I’d like to thank everyone involved who has made this happen.”
Tasnim Koser, Headteacher at Holyoakes School, said:
“We’re pleased to be working with Persimmon Homes, local ward and county councillors, the Leader of Redditch Borough Council and Rachel Maclean MP to find a temporary solution to the parking issue and we would like to thank residents for their patience during this time.”
