Rachel has welcomed a 32% increase in the number of doctors, nurses and other patient care staff working in general practice in Redditch and the Villages since 2019.
This also includes roles such as dispensers, health care assistants, phlebotomists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, podiatrists, therapists and others.
The data, published by the Government, shows the number of Full Time Equivalent doctors, nurses and other direct patient care staff in general practice in September 2019 and September 2022 and the change over that period.
A modelling approach has enabled estimates of staff at the level of parliamentary constituencies to be given for the first time.
The Plan for Patients set out the Government’s commitment to improving general practice and using transparent data to inform and empower patients.
Rachel said:
“Whilst this increase in staff is welcome and can only help to improve the service patients receive, I still hear from constituents who are concerned about access to face-to-face appointments and waiting times for an appointment with their GP.
“I’m continuing my work with local health bosses, as well as Ministers, to ensure my constituents get the first-class healthcare they deserve.”
