A brand new breast imaging unit at the Alexandra Hospital has opened to patients today (February 10th).
The new purpose-built extension, which replaces the previous mobile breast imaging unit, incorporates two dedicated rooms for breast mammography and ultrasound scans and is located close to the breast surgery clinics to allow a seamless and accessible pathway for patients.

“It’s fantastic to see the brand new breast imaging unit at the Alexandra Hospital is now open to patients.
“We all know how important breast screenings are, and so this purpose-built extension to the Alex will enable more screenings to take place, ensuring patients awaiting diagnostic tests can be seen quicker.
“This latest investment demonstrates how the Alex can continue to expand and is a further clear signal that the Alex isn’t going anywhere.
“The Alex has a bright future ahead of it and our hospital will continue to benefit from investment.”
