Rachel has been to the Garden Suite’s new home at the Alexandra Hospital for the first time since securing the service’s return.
Last Friday (June 23rd), the town’s MP met with the hard-working and dedicated staff who run the chemotherapy service.
It’s the first time Rachel has visited the Garden Suite’s new home at the Alex since its return to the hospital in February.
Rachel fought hard to get local health bosses to return this service to Redditch’s hospital after it was re-located to Kidderminster during the pandemic.
Thousands of residents signed Rachel’s petition which she launched following comments from local health bosses that they were looking into keeping the Garden Suite in Kidderminster permanently, leaving the Alex without a chemotherapy service.
This is one of a number of recent investments in the Alex which also includes brand-new multi-million-pound operating theatres, a £3.9 million expansion of endoscopy services, and a brand-new Breast Imaging Unit.
Rachel said:
“It was an honour to meet with the hard-working and dedicated staff who run the Garden Suite.
“It was also humbling to see this service in its new home at the Alex and back where it belongs.
“Now I’ve demonstrated I’m capable of getting services back to our hospital, my Long-Term Plan for the Delivery of Health and Social Care that I’m working on will set out how I believe we can return a maternity and children’s service to the Alex.”
