The Conservatives have announced Redditch is one of 30 more towns which will each benefit from £20 million as part of their Long-Term Plan for Towns.
Under the plans, Conservatives will extend the Long-Term Plan for Towns should the Party return to Government after the election, with Redditch expected to receive up to £20 million in endowment-style funding and support over 10 years to be spent on issues that matter to local people, including regenerating high streets and securing public safety.
This funding comes on top of the £16.6 million Town Deal Rachel has already secured and the £5 million at the Spring Budget to level up arts and culture in Redditch.
Local people will decide how the money will be spent. New Town Boards will be set up to bring together community leaders, businesspeople, local government, and the local MP, to develop and deliver the plan for their town. Bringing decision makers closer to the people and businesses this transformational funding will affect is an important element of this plan.
Rachel said: “This bold action will be transformational for Redditch. It will allow local people to take back control - creating better jobs, improving transport and generating more investment.
“This further funding boost builds on my strong track record of delivering real results for Redditch. From a £16.6 million Town Deal to £5 million to level up arts and culture.
“Should I be given the honour of being re-elected, I look forward to working with residents, community groups and local businesses to develop a Long-Term Plan for our wonderful town.”
