Following the announcement that the Chief Executive of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, Matthew Hopkins, is leaving the Trust, Rachel said:
“I would like to thank Matthew Hopkins for his public service and, despite our different visions for the Alexandra Hospital, for our constructive working relationship.
“And whilst there has been stability and green shoots of improvement, I’m left feeling frustrated that another Chief Executive has failed to listen to what the people of Redditch want – a maternity and children’s service back at the Alexandra Hospital.
“This is despite record Government funding in our NHS and, as Matthew Hopkins has said himself, the Acute Trust’s workforce has grown in the past four years.
“I’ve set out comprehensive, detailed and realistic plans as to how I believe a maternity and children’s service can be returned to our hospital. It’s my hope that the next Chief Executive will genuinely and positively engage with me so we can deliver the services my constituents want.
“I will continue to be a thorn in the Trust’s side, and I won’t stop fighting until women can give birth and children can once again be treated at the Alex.”
