Rachel is continuing to hold local health bosses to account over the return of the Garden Suite to the Alexandra Hospital.
Back in February, and following a long and hard-fought campaign led by Rachel, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust confirmed the chemotherapy service would be returned to the Alex following its temporary re-location to Kidderminster Hospital during the pandemic.
There was concern that the Garden Suite’s temporary relocation could have been made permanent after health bosses said they were exploring the option.
This resulted in Rachel launching a petition, signed by more than 8,000, residents, which called for the service to be returned to the Alex.
The Garden Suite’s return to the town’s hospital was confirmed in February, and since then Rachel has met with Trust bosses a number of times to press for the service to be returned as soon as possible.
Rachel said: “I remain grateful to the Trust that they listened to the voices of patients and my constituents and made the commitment to return the Garden Suite to the Alex where it belongs.
“I’m continuing to hold them to account to ensure this service is returned as soon as possible. I met with them again just recently and they told me a fully costed plan to return the Garden Suite will be presented to the Board in July. Progress is clearly being made.
“However, although I appreciate work is underway to return the Garden Suite, there can be no dither and delay, especially when I have constituents who are still travelling to Kidderminster for their treatment.”
