Rachel has met with the new manager of the Kingfisher Shopping Centre as part of her work to unlock Redditch’s full potential.
With town centre regeneration and investment a key focus for Rachel, the town’s MP met with General Manager, Adrian Field, to discuss his ambitions for the shopping centre, as well as the challenges facing the Kingfisher.
They also discussed Redditch’s game-changing £16.6 million Town Deal which will see millions of pounds invested in the town centre to deliver much-needed regeneration.
And, as a key member of the Redditch Business Improvement District, Rachel thanked Adrian and the Kingfisher team for supporting the well-attended and successful events which have recently been held in the town centre.
Rachel said:
“Like many shopping centres across the country, the Kingfisher is also facing challenges as shopping habits change, but I have every confidence that Adrian and his team are ambitious for the shopping centre.
“I believe our game-changing regeneration plans for the town centre will support the Kingfisher and deliver a vibrant shopping and night time economy that residents rightly demand.”
Adrian added:
“Experience has informed me that when it comes to regeneration and investment in town and city centres, it is always useful to liaise closely with key stakeholders involved in this work and spending time with Rachel helped me to get a better understanding of her thoughts.
“It was useful to know that we both agree that the investment opportunities for Redditch town centre through the likes of the Redditch Town Deal Fund and Redditch BID will benefit business, residents and visitors and that careful consideration of the detail of these plans is continuously needed as projects progress.”
