“My Long-Term Plan will deliver results” Rachel as said as she launches an ambitious blueprint for the delivery of health and social care in Redditch and the Villages.
Launched today (July 21st), the Long-Term Plan builds on the progress that Rachel has made since she was first elected in 2017 and to look to the bright future ahead for local health and social care services.
That progress includes more doctors and nurses working for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust since 2017, more investment and new services at the Alexandra Hospital and record amounts of funding for the NHS.
Rachel has a record of delivery having secured the return of the Garden Suite Chemotherapy Service to the Alex.
The Alex has also seen major investment from a brand-new Breast Imaging Unit to state-of-the-art robot-assisted surgery, from a multi-million-pound investment in new operating theatres to a £3.9 million expansion of endoscopy services.
Rachel is determined to build on this progress, and her ambitious blueprint sets out clear ambitions and commitments as she seeks to deliver first-class health and social care services for her constituents. They include:
- Fight to return a maternity and children’s service to the Alexandra Hospital
- Secure further investment in the Alex
- Expand state-of-the-art robot-assisted surgery at the Alex
- Improve access to GP, dental and mental health services
- Tackle the Covid backlogs
- Recruit more doctors and nurses
- Ensure residents receive the social care they need
Rachel said:
“The NHS has been a large presence in my life. I’m the proud daughter of an NHS GP. And, like you, I use the NHS. It has always been there for me and my family, just as it has been and continues to be for you and your family.
"I have given birth in an NHS hospital, raised four children and had my fair share of visits to NHS GPs, clinics, and hospitals over the years. Now I’m a grandmother and I continue to want the best for my family.
“From speaking to you on the doorstep and from reading your emails, I know you want the best for your family too. And as your MP it’s my job to listen, to represent you and to fight for the best health and social care services.
“I have a clear Long-Term Plan to ensure you receive the first-class health and social care services you deserve.”
