Rachel is continuing to make the case for the Garden Suite Chemotherapy Unit to be returned to the Alexandra Hospital.
Yesterday (January 26th), Rachel convened a meeting of the Alex Working Group for the first time in 2022.
Rachel met with the Chief Executive of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, Matthew Hopkins, to discuss the Garden Suite and the planned multi-million investment in the Alex.
The town’s MP made clear there was significant opposition to one of the options being considered by the Trust which is to make the Garden Suite’s move to Kidderminster Hospital permanent.
Online alone more than 8,300 residents have signed Rachel’s petition which calls for the chemotherapy unit to be returned to the Alex.
At their meeting, Rachel and Mr Hopkins also discussed the planned investment which the Alex is due to receive.
Rachel said:
“I’ve been consistently clear that temporary must mean temporary and that there is a strong case for the Garden Suite to be returned to the Alex.
“I know health bosses are listening and I’m confident they’re taking into consideration the concerns of patients and residents who are opposed to the Garden Suite permanently remaining in Kidderminster.
“Chemotherapy must be provided at all three of the Trust’s hospitals – as was the case before the pandemic.
“I’m also confident in saying the Alex has a bright future ahead of it. There is planned investment which our town’s hospital is in line to receive. The Alex needs and deserves this investment. I can assure you that I’ll never stop fighting for the Alex.”
