Rachel is continuing her work to improve access to local GP services.
As part of this work, Rachel recently met with Dr Gillian Farmer, General Secretary of the Worcestershire Local Medical Committee which represents local GPs, to discuss the challenges facing practices, as well as the concerns of her constituents.
It follows a GP survey Rachel conducted last year which gathered residents’ views of GP services in the constituency.
Rachel said:
“This was a very useful meeting as part of my work on my Long-Term Plan for the Delivery of Healthcare in the constituency.
“I appreciate Dr Farmer’s time to discuss the challenges GPs are currently experiencing, as well as giving me the opportunity to raise the concerns of my constituents.
“Both the total number of appointments and face-to-face appointments are increasing, but with that we must ensure GPs can cope with the workload.
“I’ll be writing to the Health Minister to set out the experiences of local GPs and constituents as part of the Government’s work to improve services for those who access them, as well as for those who provide them.”
