Rachel working with the Leader of Redditch Borough Council to ensure residents have access to garden waste collection services.
As part of the ambitious Environment Bill, the Government wants to make recycling easier and ensure that there is a comprehensive, consistent service across the country.
New requirements on the collection of waste will be introduced which will be a significant step towards meeting the Government’s commitment to eliminate avoidable waste by 2050.
As part of this, Redditch Borough Council is planning to expand its garden waste collection service once the results of a Government consultation are known.
Rachel is now working with Cllr Matt Dormer, Leader of Redditch Borough Council, to lobby the Environment Minister as part of their work to expand garden waste collection services in the Borough.
Rachel said:
“This is an issue which has been coming up on the doorstep when I’ve been out talking to residents and so, working with Cllr Dormer, we’re working hard to ensure residents have access to garden waste services – a shared desire of the Government and the Borough Council.”
Cllr Matt Dormer, Leader of Redditch Borough Council, added:
“I know that this is a service residents want from their local council and we will make sure it’s available to them as soon as possible.
“I’m grateful for Rachel’s help and support in lobbying the Environment Minister.”
