Rachel has welcomed £1.6 million in Government funding to boost heating efficiency and cut heating costs in homes across Redditch.
The Government has announced £1.4 billion in grant funding under the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF), with Conservative-led Redditch Borough Council receiving £1.6 million.
Match funded by the Borough Council, the funding will deliver loft, cavity wall and external wall insulation, double glazed windows, improved ventilation, high heat-retention storage heaters and solar panels to 280 council homes identified as having low EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) ratings.
The SHDF forms part of the Government’s commitment to reduce overall UK energy demand by 15% by 2030, as well as supporting the ambition for the UK to move towards greater energy independence.
Rachel said:
“It is right that our mission to reach net zero does not saddle taxpayers with unrealistic costs.
“That is why I am delighted the Government are investing £1.6 million in Redditch to cut people’s bills by up to £400 and boost efficiency.
“This funding will increase the efficiency of heating systems and vitally cut costs for hundreds of families for the long-term.”
