Writing for this week's Redditch Standard (April 28th), Rachel said:
I had a busy day in the constituency last Friday as I continue my relentless focus on delivering on the promises I have made to you.
The first stop of the day was Tudor Grange Academy where I met with students and staff to find out new Government funding is being used to buy brand new tennis equipment. The aim is to encourage more young people, who may not think tennis is for them, to take up the sport.
Levelling up opportunities for young people in our town is a promise I made to you when I was re-elected, and I’m delivering on that promise.
I then headed to the jewel in Redditch’s crown, Arrow Valley Country Park, to see the Government and Council investment that is going into this much-loved park.
£85,000 from the Government’s Levelling Up Parks Fund has been used to extend the main play area by installing a new inclusive basket swing and teqball table.
Whilst at the park, I stopped off for lunch at the newly refurbished and recently reopened Boathouse Café. It's a great cosy place with delicious, good value food! It’s so good to see it open again after the works took place. Great work from the Conservative-led Borough Council and Rubicon Leisure.
It was then back to the office for a meeting with Dr Gillian Farmer from the Worcestershire Local Medical Committee. This is the body which represents local GPs. We discussed the pressures facing GPs, as well as concerns constituents have raised with me about access to services. I’ll now be writing to the Health Minister as part of my ongoing work on this issue.
My last meeting of the day was with local Councillors and our Police and Crime Commissioner, John Campion, to discuss speeding in Astwood Bank. I’m pleased to say we agreed a clear plan of action to tackle this issue which is blighting the lives of residents who live in this beautiful village.
You can see that I’m working flat out to deliver on the promises that I have made to you.
