Rachel has welcomed £2.4 million in Government funding to boost local skills.
It’s part of the Government’s vision to enable local areas to deliver their Local Skills Improvement Plans which meet the needs of businesses in order to grow the economy.
Rachel recently launched Worcestershire’s Local Skills Improvement Plan at an event at one of Redditch’s leading employers FAUN Zoeller.
Developed by local businesses, the £2,451,994 in Government funding will support the delivery of the priorities set out in the Worcestershire Local Skills Improvement Plan.
Boosting local skills has been a top priority for Rachel ever since she was first elected. From backing apprenticeships, to helping to set-up a mentoring scheme for young people, Rachel has been at the forefront of efforts to level up opportunity in Redditch.
Rachel said:
“I've heard loud and clear about the need for Redditch's workforce to have the skills local businesses need in order to grow and to be fit for the 21st century.
“Having worked in business myself before entering politics, I know how vital it is that our workforce has the skills employers are after, and with Government funding we will be able to deliver the priorities set out in our very own Local Skills Improvement Plan.
“This Plan has rightly been developed locally by businesses and I look forward to continuing to work with them to ensure they have access to the skills they will need to flourish and grow.”
