Rachel has welcomed news that local adult social care services will receive £402,039 to support innovation in the sector.
Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care System has been awarded the funding from the Government’s Accelerating Reform Fund.
The £42.6 million fund will support innovation and to transform the way adult social care services are provided nationally, supporting a sustainable, lasting increase in the amount of effective types of support.
This funding will be used in Herefordshire and Worcestershire to:
- Support carers when people are discharged from hospital e.g., through assistive technology and the use of volunteers to assist in signposting carers to wider support in the community.
- Improve information and advice services, for example, by creating a network of information first aiders who can direct people to the right place for care.
- Create a volunteering portal which will raise the profile of volunteering and make it easier to find opportunities.
- Extend share lives provision making the service available to more people through the offer of short breaks or respite provision.
- Expansion of a predictive technology service (wearables) to support those discharged from hospital and their carers.
Rachel said: “The Government is sticking with its plan to deliver ambitious social care reforms that will ensure my constituents get the care they need and to help even more residents to live independently.
“Adult social care is an issue I care deeply about. My mum is living with dementia and I have first-hand experience of the adult social care system, so I’m pleased to see the Government is backing innovations which will make our care system fit for the future and provide vital support to our selfless unpaid carers.”
