Rachel Maclean, MP for Redditch County, has welcomed a report which found Redditch to be leading the way in business, with more companies in the top 50 fastest-growing in Worcestershire than any other part of the county.
The 2017 Edition of the Worcestershire Growth Barometer Report, the second annual analysis into how well the county’s economy is performing, shows Redditch’s businesses are outperforming the rest of Worcestershire. Redditch has 13 companies in the county’s top 50 fastest-growing mid-sized businesses, with Worcester City close behind on 10.
The good news for Redditch continues as the report also found the total turnover growth of Redditch’s fastest-growing businesses increased by £119million in 2017 to £675million. This puts Redditch on top when compared to Wyre Forest, Wychavon, Worcester City, Malvern Hills and Bromsgrove.
Redditch also has the second highest employee growth rate in Worcestershire. In 2017 the town’s fastest-growing businesses employed 2,891 – that’s up by 451 compared to 2016.
Rachel said: “Redditch is a great place to do business and I welcome the report’s findings that our town is leading the way with more businesses in the top 50 fastest-growing companies than any other district in Worcestershire. It is great to see they are thriving with both turnover and employee growth up year-on-year.
“The report acknowledges there is more that can be done to help businesses in Redditch and across the county to grow even further. I will always do all I can to support our business community so they can continue to grow and create more jobs in our town.”
