Rachel Maclean, MP for Redditch County, popped into see three successful Redditch-based traders as part of Small Business Saturday (2 December).
Small Business Saturday takes place on the first Saturday in December each year and is a campaign designed to encourage consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses within their communities, especially in the busy run-up to Christmas.
Rachel visited James the Jewellers in the Kingfisher Centre, long-established menswear hire shop Heaphys in Church Green and family-run clothing alterations and made to measure interiors shop Sew Fab on Unicorn Hill.
Rachel said: “There are so many successful and wonderful small businesses here in Redditch, and small businesses employ millions of people up and down the country and contribute massively towards the economy locally and nationally.
“Small Business Saturday is all about supporting these businesses in the fantastic work they do within our communities, and I met some lovely people in the process.”
Rachel also paid a visit to the Arts in Redditch pop-up gallery in the Kingfisher Centre, an exhibition of work by local artists.
