Last Thursday (August 30th), Rachel joined PC Chris Burns from Redditch Police Station out on patrol to experience frontline policing first-hand.
Rachel was taken around the town in a marked police car to experience for herself the routine patrols police undertake every single day.
Whilst on patrol, PC Burns told Rachel about the range of issues officers in Redditch have to deal with, including drugs, gangs and county lines.
Rachel said: “A huge thank you to PC Burns for allowing me to join him out on patrol around Redditch. It was fantastic to see the town through his eyes on the frontline.
“It is absolutely essential for me to hear the challenges of frontline policing, and to discuss the ongoing issues officers face here in Redditch. The ongoing issues with drugs, gangs and county lines are incredibly serious and I will be raising them with the relevant ministers in Parliament. The Government is already working hard to tackle these issues including the Serious Violence Strategy and the Offensive Weapons Bill.”
“I was truly humbled by PC Burns’, and his colleagues, incredible bravery in keeping us all safe.”
