Redditch’s Parliamentary Candidate says that the Conservative Party Manifesto provides a more prosperous future for local people.
Rachel Maclean who is standing for election locally said that unlike the Labour Manifesto, the Conservative’s vision for the UK is fully costed and sustainable and tackles the biggest issues that face our society such as Social Care and NHS funding.
Rachel commented:
“I am delighted that the Party will be investing an additional minimum £8 billion in real terms to our NHS over the next five years, delivering an increase in real funding per head of population for every year of the parliament. If the Conservatives are re-elected Theresa May has promised that we will embark on the most ambitious programme of capital investment in buildings and technology the NHS has ever seen. We have also put education at the heart of our manifesto by pledging an additional £4 billion in real terms to the schools budget, which I know local schools in our community will welcome as it ensures that no school has its budget cut as a result of the new, fair funding formula.”
Rachel also pledged to work tirelessly to ensure that Redditch and the Alex receives its fair share of NHS funding promised.
"I understand how angry and upset many people are with the situation at the Alex. Rightly, people tell me that they feel they have been let down. I won't compromise in my fight to get our fair share of funding. While I won't make false promises unlike other candidates in this election, I will be in a much stronger position than any other candidate if I'm elected, to get what we deserve, which is world class, safe services in our town and county. I will prioritise the people of Redditch above all other concerns, including building my own political career, and if it is needed on this issue would be prepared to vote against the Government if I believe it is the right thing to do. That would be my job if I am elected, to serve you, and to represent you in Westminster."
Mrs Maclean, was also pleased to see a focus on controlling immigration:
“Unlike the Labour Party who introduced the open door immigration policy and want to see it continue, the Conservatives will control immigration and, crucially, reduce it. Following Brexit we will have control over our borders and be able to make immigration sustainable with a system which works for this country prioritising the skilled workers which are needed. The Conservatives will double the levy on companies hiring workers from outside the EU to £2,000 a year by the end of the parliament, using the revenue generated to invest in higher level skills training for workers in the UK.”
On launching the Manifesto Theresa May said:
“The next five years are the most challenging that Britain has faced in my lifetime. Brexit will define us: our place in the world, our economic security and our future prosperity. So now more than ever, Britain needs a strong and stable government to get the best Brexit deal for our country and its people.”
